Eat enough

Meaning:

.............. from al Miqdam bin Ma'di Karib (d. 87 AH) said: "I heard the Messenger of Allaah alaihi wasallam say:" It is not the son of Adam fulfilling a place worse than his stomach, the size of (the stomach) of Adam's child is a few mouthfuls that can only establish his spine. If his soul is in control of him, then one third is for food, one third is for drinking and one third is for breathing.

HR. Ibn Majah (d. 275 H)

Istifadah:

Eating and drinking are everyday human needs. And the stomach becomes one of the digestive devices that God has provided to accommodate what we eat and drink. In the book Tuhfatul Ahwadzi syarh sunan tirmidhi it is explained that the stomach is created to support the ribs with food that is in it so that humans can carry out their activities well and can draw themselves closer to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala and increase their piety.

Therefore eat and drink sufficiently because the full stomach with excessive food causes damage to the world and the hereafter, namely the appearance of laziness, frequent sleepiness or other bad things.

Imam Ath-thoyyibi said that a person's right to eat is only limited to what is needed by his ribs to strengthen himself to worship Allah and increase his piety. But if he still surpasses it, then it must not exceed what has been mentioned in the above hadith (ie one third has the right to eat, one third is the right to drink, and the other is to breathe).

Hopefully we become people who are qana'ah, healthy and istiqamah to practice worship to Allah SWT.
