Washing Hand Before Eating
Meaning:
From Abdullah ibn Abbas (d.68H) that the Messenger of Allaah (may peace be upon him) once came out of the toilet, then served food to him. The Companions asked, "Did not we bring you water ablution?" He replied: "For I am commanded to perform ablution when going to pray."
H.R. Abu Daud (d 275 H)
Istifadah:
The background of this Hadith originated when the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam had just finished defecating, the Companions served the food. When friend offers water for ablution, it turns out that the Prophet has performed ablution to establish the Prayer. Automatically, the Prophet had washed his hands before enjoying the dish that had been served. Such is the understanding of the information of Imam Muhammad Shams Al Haq in the book 'Aunul Ma'bud syarah Abi Daud.
He said that performing ablution before meals is the custom of the Prophet (s). Therefore, hand washing or whudu 'is highly recommended when going to eat. This is also in line with the title of the chapter given by Imam Abu Daud to this hadith. The main message that we can pick is that we always get used to clean and healthy life.
As a good Muslim, let us practice the sunnah of the Prophet in maintaining cleanliness and health, both body, clothing, and place, in every activity and activity, such as washing hands before eating. Because the Prophet strongly prioritizes cleanliness and purity, both inward and inner.
